ABOUT THE TRAINING
I'm looking forward to seeing you for Advanced Management Skills training. This 2-day workshop is designed to help senior managers build empowered, motivated teams. You will learn vital coaching skills required to nurture a culture of ownership and initiative. You will understand how to support individuals’ career progression, whilst also appreciating the nuances of team dynamics. Using the latest management techniques, alongside plenty of opportunity for peer group discussion, you will come away feeling equipped and confident to handle any management situation.
Module 1: Strategic Management
Prioritise your time to focus on what really matters strategically (the difference between urgent and important)
Understand the mindset of a high performing senior manager
Communicate a clear vision and direction for you and your team
Set ambitious team goals, aligned with the company’s objectives
Get to grips with the high challenge-high support principles and identify your underlying beliefs as a manager
Module 2: Team Dynamics
Navigate the complexities of team culture in a hybrid world
Build a psychologically safe environment, based on trust and belonging
Establish team values and behaviours
Resource teams according to their strengths and competencies
Ensure clear roles and responsibilities
Module 3: Career Conversations
Support teams in their career progression
Structure appraisal conversations
Handle promotion requests fairly and effectively
Recognise whether performance issues are ‘can’t do’ (skills) or ‘won’t do’ (attitude), using proprietary ‘performance navigator’ tool to accurately assess issues
Handle push back, denial and emotion
Know when to escalate an issue to HR or senior management
Module 4: Coaching Culture
Create an everyday coaching culture, with a thriving ‘think for yourself’ mindset
Know when to ‘coach’ and when to ‘direct’
Understand the power of active listening
Use incisive questions and clean language
Apply the GROW model to encourage non-directive self problem-solving
Master the art of summarising and paraphrasing

To get us in good shape for the training, there are two parts to the pre-work. You should allow 60-90-mins to complete them.

ABOUT KERRY SAVAGE
