This workshop is designed to help you write clear, empathetic communications to residents who request repairs. It will help you plan, draft, review and proofread your messages efficiently and effectively.

SESSION 1:

WRITING CLEARLY

  • Writing simply – eliminating jargon and using simple language
     

  • Writing short – using short paragraphs and short sentences
     

  • Writing concisely – writing beautiful sentences with no unnecessary words
     

  • Explaining decisions – using ‘because’ to help people understand the answer they are getting 
     

  • Saying no – referring to the policy and giving other options (if appropriate)
     

  • Taking responsibility – knowing when and when not to pass calls to managers​

SESSION 2:

WRITING WARMLY

  • Building trust through writing – by demonstrating warmth and competence
     

  • Camden’s tone of voice – what is and isn’t appropriate
     

  • Sounding professional
     

  • Apologising when appropriate
     

  • Seeing others’ perspectives
     

  • Dealing with unreasonable behaviour
