ABOUT THE TRAINING

Hi everyone,

I'm looking forward to seeing you for Presentation Skills training.

This interactive workshop is designed to help you deliver laser pointed, authoritative presentations. As a result, meetings and presentations will be more outcome-driven and efficient. You will learn how to take control and lead with confidence; sit forward, ‘host’ and own the time; ensure that pace and content is focused; and exhibit self-belief.

The tried and tested frameworks and language techniques will provide better ways of working with clients, inspiring confidence and demonstrating professionalism.

Executive Presence

  • Find your own authentic voice as a presenter

  • Command trust and respect, by finding the perfect balance between warmth and competence

  • Learn how to dial up or de-emphasise your energy levels, according to your extraverted/introverted inclinations

  • Personalise your introductions

Leading Meetings

  • Understand meeting rituals and your role

  • Know how to chair meetings with confidence and authority

  • Drive an outcome-driven agenda

  • Maintain effortless conversations and intelligent small talk

Planning & Preparation

  • Consider the space, choreography and how to command the room; know where/how to sit/stand

  • Prepare and rehearse thoroughly, both individually and in teams

  • Understand how to use the power of 3 to prepare and frame your messaging

Challenging Client Situations

  • Find your voice with more extraverted or senior stakeholders

  • Think on your feet; field difficult questions and objections

  • Prepare mentally, managing imposter syndrome and reframing limiting beliefs

See you soon!

Amelia

PREPARATION

To get you ready for the workshop, there’s some mandatory pre-work.

Part 1 - Send this to Sarah by Tuesday 1 August

Please identify 3 x presentation strengths and 3 x areas for development that you’d like to work on. Speak to colleagues and managers to gain feedback on this, if you can.

Part 2 - Come prepared to deliver a 3-min presentation:

You have been invited to pitch for a new piece of business [insert client of your choice].

Put together a 3-min explanation of ‘Who we are and how we can help you’.  To make it as authentic as possible, you need to have a real client in mind. You are not allowed to use PowerPoint; this is a relaxed, but well-considered ‘conversation’, not a ‘presentation’. We will be listening out for the following:

Who we are

  • Have you introduced yourself well?

  • Have you communicated what the agency does, clearly and succinctly?

How we can help you

  • Have you thought about what the client’s particular priorities and interests might be?

  • Have you included at least one relevant example of how you have supported other clients with similar needs?

  • Have you explained the impact you had on those clients, in a measurable way?

(Note: You are not pitching a concept; you are simply introducing yourself and the agency offer.)
