In this workshop you will learn practical techniques for creating harmonious, productive teams that feel empowered to deliver great work. You will gain all the skills for stepping up and operating at your level, delegating with confidence, and delivering motivational performance feedback to team members. It uses tried and tested tools from the award-winning leadership programme, Liberating Leadership. 

1. MOTIVATING TEAMS

This module teaches you how to get the best from your teams. It helps you to develop emotional intelligence and an adaptive communication style.

  • Appreciate your natural management style and its impact
     

  • Recognise differences in others and how they like to be managed; flex your style accordingly
     

  • Map your teams and create a workable action plan
     

  • Understand the difference between intrinsic and extrinsic motivators

2. BRILLIANT BRIEFINGS

You will come away from this session with a clear idea of how to step up and let go. You will learn to brief colleagues in a way that reduces the margin for error and facilitates a consistently high standard of work.

  • Prioritise your time to work at your level by focusing on what really matters strategically 
     

  • Get to grips with the High Challenge-High Support principles and identify your underlying beliefs
     

  • Learn to deliver consistently clear, thorough briefs
     

  • Appreciate how to brief colleagues according to their competence and maturity

3. FEARLESS FEEDBACK

This module shows you how to get the best out of others by having assertive and constructive conversations about performance.

  • Appreciate the value of feedback and create a ‘fearless feedback’ culture
     

  • Understand how to structure critical feedback
     

  • Learn to deliver feedback in a way that’s easier to receive
     

  • Know how to deliver recognition that is heard and appreciated; practise positive reinforcement

4. CAREER CONVERSATIONS

This module is about line manager essentials. You will come away with skills and tools to help you set your managees up for success while empowering them to take charge of their own development. 

  • Set SMART objectives that will stretch your managees
     

  • Identify development needs and support managees to achieve their goals
     

  • Learn to conduct effective performance reviews and 1:1s
     

  • Strike the perfect balance between ‘remote’ and ‘approachable’ – managerial, not matey

5. PERFORMANCE MANAGEMENT

This session will teach you how to handle challenging team members and difficult situations in a constructive manner, including emotional reactions.

  • Diagnose poor performance and tailor interventions accordingly
     

  • Learn how to use rewards and penalties
     

  • Apply the principles of ‘positive regard’ and ‘genuineness’ 
     

  • Deal with emotional responses, push back and denial

6. COACHING SKILLS

This advanced management module will arm you with fundamental coaching skills to help develop highly motivated, high performing teams.

  • Create an everyday coaching culture, with a thriving ‘think for yourself’ mindset
     

  • Know when to ‘coach’ and when to ‘direct’
     

  • Develop your coaching skills, from incisive questioning to active listening
     

  • Master the art of summarising and paraphrasing

  1. What are your 3 most important objectives for the training programme? 
      

  2. Describe, in detail, a people management challenge that you’re currently facing. 
      

  3. Please schedule 15 mins with your manager to agree your learning objectives and arrange a time, following the training, to feed back to them on your progress. This step is crucial and will be discussed during the training.

Amelia is an outstanding trainer and performance coach, and a seasoned communications specialist. Passionate about her work, she brings dynamism, knowledge and transformative energy to every session.

 

She helps clients from PR, marketing and sales executives to the c-suite to perform more confidently, persuasively and effectively. Workshops topics include management and leadership, strategic communications, creative and persuasive writing, and presentation skills.

 

Amelia is an accredited trainer for the Chartered Institute of Public Relations. Her other clients include Capgemini and the Financial Ombudsman Service, as well as many marketing agencies.

 

She is a psychology graduate, holds a Professional Certificate in Executive Coaching from Henley Business School and is a group exercise instructor with a keen interest in adopting a holistic approach to drive individual and organisational performance.  

 

Previously, she spent over a decade working for leading independent communications consultancies, providing strategic counsel and training.
