This interactive session offers practical techniques to help you feel more confident in handling challenging conversations and difficult situations. It looks at how to find your voice with colleagues and clients, while presenting the best version of yourself at all times. 

  • Define assertiveness and appreciate its benefits 

  • Understand the difference between assertive, aggressive and passive behaviour 

  • Appreciate the cost of not being assertive  

  • Increase your locus of control 

  • Voice your needs and wants confidently  

  • Communicate assertively, using verbal and non-verbal techniques 

  • Express yourself positively, saying yes, under your terms  

  • Learn how to structure important conversations

In preparation for this workshop, please send your response to the following to Sarah by Thursday 25 April.

Write down an assertive request or suggestion you would like to make to someone more senior – ideally, something you’ve been wanting to say, but haven’t yet plucked up the courage. Examples might be:  

​ 

  • You’re frustrated with how something is working and you want to suggest a better way of doing things 

  • Team morale is low and you need something from senior management to help deal with this issue 

  • You urgently need support to help you overcome a current challenge

A highly experienced leadership coach, facilitator and communications expert, Kerry Savage is the director of Savage Communications Limited.

Kerry delivers leadership development and executive coaching to a range of clients, from marketing agencies to high profile organisations, such as McDonald’s, F1, the FCA and eBay. 
 
She is a senior coach practitioner, certified by the European Mentoring and Coaching Council (EMCC), and a member of the Association for Coaching (AC). She holds a Professional Certificate in Executive Coaching from Henley Business School. She is also trained in team coaching and NLP. She is accredited in the award-winning Liberating Leadership programme and is a licensed Insights Discovery practitioner.
